Native of Pennsylvania.
Went to Kentucky and married, removed to Ohio (where his wife died), then Illinois, then Kansas where he owned and was proprietor of the town of Neosho Falls.
Returned to Marshall County, Ill., and died there in 1862.
His wife's father owned a Kentucky plantation worked by slaves.
Father of Elizabeth (King) Matthews.
