Native of Vermont (Green Mountain state).
Soldier in the War of 1812.
Carpenter, later farmer.
About 1835 removed to Cass County, Michigan (village of Adamsville).
Came to Iowa 1856/1857, secured a soldier's grant of 160 acres in Jackson County, later adding 120 acres.
Died at age 77.
Father of nine children.
Only two living when written.
