Enlisted Sept 1861 in Co. D, 54th Ohio Volunteer Infantry.
Wounded at Shiloh, discharged July 22, 1862.
Re-enlisted 1864 in Co. B, 181st regiment.
Farmed in Latty township, Paulding county, Ohio, then Labette county, Kansas 1876-1879.
Returned to Ohio after his wife's death (1879) and lived retired at Lima.
Three children: Rosie (deceased), Isaac W. of Van Wert, and Bruce of Fort Smith, Ark.
