Son of Seth and Polly (James) Bailey, natives of Massachusetts and Connecticut who came to Washington County, Ohio in 1790.
Farmer near Torch/Coolville.
Owned 80-acre farm and the Bailey House.
Married Sarah McLure of Washington County, Ohio in 1833 (she died 1835, leaving daughter Mary, who married Martin Athey of Nebraska).
Married Mary Ann Scott in 1840, daughter of John and Nancy (Patterson) Scott, born 1814.
They had seven children.
Daughter Lydia married David Sinclair of Pennsylvania.
Daughter Julia was widow of J.B. Douglass.
