Revolutionary-era gentleman of the old school, wore powdered wig/queue and continental coat.
Settled Northwest Territory partly due to opposition to slavery.
Devoted himself after 1803 to improving land at mouth of Turkey Creek.
Built a two-story frame house 1806/1809 but died of fever Oct 1809, buried on river bank near home.
Remains reinterred at Friendship cemetery 1865. 'Major' is a military rank/title used as his name in the source.
