Enlisted at Marion, Iowa, Oct. 10, 1862, aged 18, in the Sixth Iowa Cavalry.
Discharged for disability Feb. 10, 1863, at Davenport.
Worked in Linn Co., Iowa, until 1871, then homesteaded in Grant township, O'Brien county.
Pioneer farmer, grain freighter (Primghar to Sheldon).
Sold the first load of wheat in Sheldon.
Married 1878.
Moved to Primghar 1910, then Sutherland 1911.
Republican, school director.
