Came to Montgomery county as a boy.
Engaged in saw-mill and brick manufacture until enlisting in 1861 in Company I, Ninety-third Ohio Volunteer Infantry.
Taken prisoner on the first day's fighting at Chickamauga and incarcerated in Libby Prison, Richmond, Va., where he died Jan 21, 1864.
Five children born, three living.
