Native of Connecticut.
In 1828 came with family to Lorain county, settling in Columbia township on 600 acres of wild land (journey via water to Cleveland, three weeks, rest on foot).
Died 1851, wife about six months later.
Children: Constant G. (county surveyor nine years, drowned in Black river, lived Elyria), W. G. (Ridgeville township), William A., John (Columbia township), Mary (twin of John, Mrs. Thomas Churchwood, died Berea), Nathaniel N. (Columbia township).
