Member of the first (Presbyterian) church in Euclid, later united with the Baptists after becoming convinced by the New Testament that immersion was true baptism.
Served as a deacon of the Baptist church with William Hutchinson.
Buried his first wife, then married Sep 7, 1828, Mrs. Clarissa Kent.
Later joined the Disciples (Campbell movement) after Rigdon's 1829 preaching, agreeing to shepherd the young converts.
