Known as Orin Draper, Jr.
Came to Ohio at age thirteen, worked as farm hand, then farmed in several Iowa counties.
In the early 1870s homesteaded 80 acres in Osceola County, lost crops to grasshoppers and traded the land for one cow.
Farmed in Cherokee County, later retired to O'Brien County on son Merriett's farm.
Married four times.
Second marriage in 1847 to Mrs. Elizabeth (Jewell) Hadden, with eleven children of whom eight were living.
