Of English descent (paternal grandfather Ezekiel Ellis emigrated from England 1730).
Came to Ohio 1839, settled at Findlay 1844, preached 25 years and organized societies at Findlay, Carey, Orange, Gilboa and Eagle.
Located on a farm in Jackson township, Hancock County, in 1846.
Began practicing medicine 1848.
Mother Margaret Lee was a first cousin of Robert E. Lee.
