John B. Faris Jr., born Salem township, Highland County, Ohio, July 27, 1837.
As a young man worked for wages in Pike County, Illinois, then returned to Ohio and married Chaffalio Fender, settling at Pricetown.
Taught school for 32 years.
Served in Company E, 168th Ohio Infantry (1864).
Ordained a minister of the Christian Church in 1872.
Wife died April 4, 1901 (buried Plainview cemetery).
Son John S. was postmaster of Pricetown.
Daughter Laura B. was widow of J. W. White.
Children Mary, Moody (twins, first-born) and J. Walter died young.
