Came to America 1850 at age 16, settled in St. Clair County.
Crippled at 22 by a wagon fall, then worked in his brother Sebastian's store in Fayetteville.
Farmer.
Served as precinct supervisor 12 years, deputy assessor 10 years, Justice of the Peace, then county commissioner.
Married Elizabeth Laux Sept. 1860 (one daughter, Ida, later wife of Frank Aberle).
After her death married Philomena Zeller Apr. 4, 1864, by whom he had seven children, all living.
Also appears in the Freeburg township roster as a farmer and stock raiser, Sec.
36, St. Clair Co.
Wife recorded there as Mary Phil.
Zoeller (i.e., Philomena Zeller) - merged as the same person on the matching wife identity.
