Brought to America the same year and to Winneshiek county in 1854, where he grew to manhood and became a prosperous farmer.
Nine children: Maggie (wife of Castro Buchied of Washington township), Annie (a nun in a convent at La Crosse, Wisconsin), Barbara (a nun at La Crosse), Mary (at home), Henry W. (Jr.), Albert H., Herman C., Otilda, and Agnes (in a convent at La Crosse).
