Came to US at age 5 with parents (grandfather settled first in South Carolina, then Kentucky).
Attained adulthood in Kentucky, married Nancy Davis.
Removed to White County, Illinois 1822 (farmed ~12 years), then Greene County, then Pike County Feb. 1836, settling 5 miles south of Milton.
Died Sept. 9, 1873, age 85.
Held lieutenant's commission in Black Hawk War.
Justice of the peace 20 years.
Nine children.
