Civil War veteran, enlisted Mar 31 1864 in Co. I, 17th Vermont Volunteer Infantry at age 15.
Present at surrender at Appomattox.
Later came to Jasper County, Iowa.
Leading farmer and stock raiser owning 340 acres in Clear Creek township.
Married Lovina E. Richmond Oct 23, 1876.
