Organized a company at Chesterville, Morrow County, Ohio at outbreak of Civil War, elected captain, mustered in 3 Sep 1861 with the Twentieth Regiment O.V.I.
Discharged for sickness after Fort Donelson 1862.
Located in Delaware, Ohio 1862.
Helped organize Columbus Medical College, held Chair of Materia Medica and Therapeutics 18 years.
President of Ohio State Medical Society and County Medical Association.
Surgeon of the C.C.C.& St.L.R.R. for 25 years.
Elected to town council, its president 1894.
Member of George C. Torrence Post No. 60.
First married Eliza Ely (daughter of a prominent Delaware family) before the war.
She died 1871.
In 1873 married Miss Johnston of Ashley, Ohio, by whom he had two sons.
