Family moved 1849 from Franklin Co., Ohio to Baraboo, Wisconsin by prairie schooner.
Civil War veteran: enlisted July 26, 1861 as private in 3rd Battery Wisconsin Artillery, served in Army of the Cumberland.
Miller (1867), admitted to the bar 1875, practiced law until 1881, removed to Minnesota.
Came to Faulk County, Dakota Territory Aug 1883.
Elected county judge 1895, re-elected through seventh term.
Republican.
Member G.A.R. Phil H. Sheridan Post No. 72 at Faulkton, and Odd Fellows.
