Year given as '1S05' (OCR), read as 1845.
Son of Frank and Martha (Hackman) Johnson, both born in Germany.
Came to America in 1867, landing at New York, then Illinois (~20 miles north of Springfield) where he worked as a farm hand until 1885.
Went to Franklin, Nebraska to stay with his mother, then came to Otter Tail county.
Bought eighty acres of uncleared land in section 36, Deer Creek township at $5/acre.
Engaged in general farming, dairying, raising hogs, and auctioneering farm sales.
Served fifteen years as township supervisor and chairman.
German Lutheran church.
Sister Jennie married William Wahlfell of Petersburg, Illinois.
