Born in Hanover, Germany.
Married Charlotte Winkelman there.
Came to the United States in 1869, settling in Du Page County, Ill. to join two of his sisters.
Bought valuable farm in Coral Township, McHenry County in 1885 (one mile south of village of Coral).
Property destroyed by fire in 1916 and rebuilt.
Retired 1910 and moved to Marengo.
Children: Henry (employed by Borden Company at Marengo), William (farmer of Riley Township), Edward F., Fred (farmer of Coral Township), Richard (lives on old homestead).
