Born Feb. 23, 1808 at Windham, Conn.
Father John Ladd, farmer, native of Windham Co., of English descent.
Family moved to Oswego Co. NY in 1814, then Oneida Co. NY in 1819.
Settled first in Norvell (then Napoleon) MI for 23 years, then sec.
Owned 320 acres improved and 70 acres timber.
Married (1) 1836 Frances Stevens (d.
1840).
(2) 1844 Maria Lewis.
(3) 1853 Sarah Cutts.
Daughter Sarah became Mrs. N. H. Barnes of Brooklyn.
Daughter Effie M. married George A. Garry, a lawyer of Grand Rapids, MI.
