Removed to Michigan, then Knox County, Ill. near Galesburg, then to Henry County, Iowa in Nov. 1856, locating in Scott Township on section 36.
Pioneer farmer.
Homestead grew from 80 to 375 acres.
Eight children, all living except eldest daughter Florence (born in Illinois).
Son William J. married Viola Lagel (son Walter) and with brother Schuyler E. owned a sheep ranch in Oregon.
Daughter Nettie married Frank Edgerton, farmer of Riverton, Fremont Co., Iowa.
