Common-school education.
Married Nancy Bly.
Emigrated to Michigan and settled in Ann Arbor township 1831, then bought a farm in Northfield.
Justice of the Peace under Gov.
Cass (1833).
Elected to the State Legislature 1844 and 1846.
Retired 1869, moved to Ann Arbor, died 1876.
Son Emory Leland owned the old Northfield homestead.
Son Capt. Joshua Leland died in the army during the Civil War.
