Native of Montgomeryshire, North Wales, and a farmer there.
Came to America in 1831, settled on a farm in Cambria County, PA until 1845, then removed to Johnson County, Iowa, where he was one of the first settlers, taking up government land.
Lived there until his death in 1876.
Father of Edward Ludor.
Had seven children (four daughters, three sons).
