Became a German Baptist preacher (took up the work in 1840).
Farmed near Portsmouth, Ohio, then removed to Highland County, Ohio (c.1847-1849).
Later resided at Greenfield, Ohio.
Died April 17, 1888, at his daughter's home in Washington, D.C.
