Native of Pennsylvania.
Millwright and miller (employed by Joshua Ive).
Came to Ohio early, first near Wooster, Wayne County, then settled near Byesville, Guernsey County (purchased 80 acres).
In 1838 built a boat, loaded flour, piloted it to Dresden on the Muskingum River, contracted typhus fever on the trip and died in the prime of life (~1838).
