Came to Shelby County spring 1880, purchasing 320 acres in section 1, Douglas Township.
Raised Poland China swine and Norman horses.
Civil War veteran: enlisted October 5, 1862, Company C, Twenty-second Iowa Volunteer Infantry.
Served three years.
Wounded in the right eye at Cedar Creek.
Member G.A.R., Irwin Post.
Nine children from first marriage.
