Born Sept 3, 1845 in Holmes County, Ohio.
Lived there until age 25, then moved to Cedar County, Iowa.
Fall 1875 to Saline County, Missouri where he married.
Resided in Missouri until fall 1882 when he moved to Northville, Spink County (livery business).
Came to Faulk County 1883, took a preemption and homestead.
Prosperous farmer and horseman, breeder of Percheron horses, ~1,920 acres.
Elected four consecutive times to the South Dakota state legislature (house of representatives).
All six children residents of Faulk County.
