Took a claim of 450 acres.
Built the first house in present city of Mt.
Pleasant.
Went to California in 1849 to mine for eighteen months.
Sailed from San Francisco for New York and was never heard from again, supposed drowned at sea (death year approximate).
Parents of eight children.
