Born in Germany Nov 14, 1820.
Lost his father early, learned carpenter's trade.
Married Caroline Arndt.
Emigrated to America 1856 with wife and two children (August Ferdinand and William), settling in Monroe, Green county, Wisconsin, where son Frank and an unnamed girl (died in infancy) were born.
Came to Stearns county 1864, secured 160 acres in Zion township near Paynesville.
First wife died 1868.
Married Julianna Kruger Jan 1871.
Died July 21, 1902.
