Came to Appanoose County in 1844 and settled in Centerville in 1849, a pioneer settler.
Enlisted 1862 in Company D, Sixth Regiment Iowa Volunteer Infantry, served three years then reenlisted.
Elected city marshal of Centerville in 1877 (two terms).
Also street commissioner.
Republican.
Member of the G.A.R., Odd Fellows, and Knights of Pythias.
Married in 1858.
Died September 30, 1899.
