Major Nathaniel Pendleton, a nephew of Edmund Pendleton the Virginia statesman.
Native of Virginia.
Officer in the Revolutionary army, served on the staff of General Nathaniel Greene during the Southern campaign.
Appointed by President Washington as the first judge of the United States district court of Georgia.
Later a prominent lawyer in New York.
Acted as second for Alexander Hamilton in his fatal 1804 duel with Aaron Burr.
Died at Hyde Park, October 21, 1821.
