Family came to Otter Tail county 1870.
Began renting a farm in Nidaros township, then clerked at a general store in Clitherall one year.
Came to Battle Lake 1904, managed the Larson & Hansen general store five years, purchased it in 1909, operated as A. A. Petterson & Company.
Married Julia Holstemon of Clayton county, Iowa, in 1885.
Prominent member of the Lutheran church at Battle Lake.
