Born July 13, 1825.
Emigrated from Ireland at time of the famine, first settling near Boston, Massachusetts where he married and three children were born.
Came to Jones county, Iowa ~1870, farming in Cass township.
At one time owned 200 acres, 160 at death.
Episcopalian, republican.
Died July 3, 1898.
Parents of eleven children (four died young).
Daughter Elizabeth was widow of W. W. Gray.
Daughter Dora E. married Nelson Bradley of Lamoine, Iowa.
Sons John and Thomas died at 18, daughter Charlotte at 15.
