Fought at Lewisburg, Cheat Mountain, Shiloh, first siege of Corinth, and Stone River.
Foot/ankle crushed at Stone River.
Credited with saving Stewart's Creek bridge.
Married (1) May 18, 1865 Frances E. Chapman (4 children).
(2) June 10, 1876 Mrs. Mary E. McBride (1 daughter, Grace E.).
