Ludwig D. Turner, secured a homestead in Colfax township in 1869.
Native of Warren County, NY.
In 1868 married Eliza J. Russell and located in Jones County, Iowa.
Next year came in wagons to Pocahontas County, section 6, Colfax township.
Died June 6, 1877 from paralysis.
Participated in organization of Colfax township.
Served in office 1872.
Three children: Gertrude and John died of diphtheria in 1886 at ages 14 and 13.
Matie L., a teacher, married Frank B. Bailey in 1891 and lives at Fonda.
