Early Linn County settler.
Born Ohio, crossed the Mississippi at age 18 in 1832 as one of the first white settlers on Iowa soil, located in Linn County 1838.
Said to have hunted/trapped in the county as early as 1836 with Jim Ames.
Brought the first divorce suit in Linn county.
Thrifty, honest.
Died December 11, 1894, at age 80.
Married Rosanna Harris July 29, 1847.
Twelve children born, five survived their mother.
