Enlisted in Company C, Twelfth Regiment Iowa Volunteer Infantry from Fayette county, served under Col. C. P. Henderson four and a half years.
Fought at Shiloh (taken prisoner), Fort Donelson, Fort Henry.
Graduate of Upper Iowa University at Fayette.
Teacher and school principal.
