SMITH GEORGE, Coshocton; blacksmith; born November 8, 1861, in Lafayette township; son of John Smith, born in Pennsylvania, of English ancestry. Young Smith was raised on the farm. At the age of twenty he went into his father's shop to learn his trade. In 1868, he, with his father, moved to Illinois, but only remained eight months, when all came back to the old homestead in Lafayette. On returning, George worked at Jacobsport, from which place he came to this city and established a shop on Second street, where he is doing a fair business in smithing and shoeing. Mr. Smith was married in April, 1878, to Miss Mary Duffey, of Lafayette. The result of this marriage is a son, named Charley.
