JOHN C. BROWN, member of the metropolitan police force, was born in Nodaway County, Mo., March 8, 1858, and is the son of Judge Thomas A. Brown, one of the earliest pioneers of Buchanan County, who was born in Knox County, Tenn., Jan. 28, 1812, and came to the Platte Purchase in 1838, who from 1844 to 1862 resided in what is now Nodaway County, and who since his return to Buchanan County has several times held the position of county judge, and who is still living in St. Joseph. Our subject farmer for many years, was in 1885-86 deputy superintendent of the poor farm, and subsequently engaged in the implement business in St. Joseph.
