Married January 1, 1853.
Came west to Cedar County, Iowa, then Van Buren County (1854), then Winterset (1855) where he was one of the early jewelry merchants.
Since 1870 farmed 40 acres near Winterset, raising bees and horticulture.
Affiliated with the Christian church of Winterset.
