Common-school education.
Farmed with his father.
After marriage remained on the home place five years, then moved near Dresden where he bought 80 acres and stayed 11 years.
In 1868 moved to his present farm.
Wife Ann Lloyd was daughter of Eli Lloyd of Wheeling, W. Va., who settled near Dresden.
