Enlisted Aug 13, 1861 in Company C, Eleventh Ohio Volunteer Infantry, served three years, discharged at Chattanooga 1864.
Re-enlisted in Gen. Hancock's veteran corps until March 1865.
Came from Ohio to Shelby County, Iowa in 1870, settling on Rock Island railway land in Lincoln township.
Owned 160 acres.
Lifelong Republican, first vote for Lincoln 1864, GAR member.
Died September 24, 1914.
Buried in city cemetery.
Married July 13, 1860.
