Pioneer resident.
Resided in Wayne County, Indiana, then came to Iowa in 1852 and engaged in the nursery business, partnering with son-in-law Isaac T. Gibson of Salem.
Justice of the peace in Indiana.
Elected Indiana state senator.
Whig then Republican.
Married Rhoda Hunt.
Six children of that marriage.
