Born April 18, 1808 in County Antrim, Ireland.
Scotch-Irish descent.
Emigrated to America in 1818 at age ten with his father and brother Robert, settling in Danville, Pa.
A miller by trade.
Lived in Knox County then Fulton County, Ohio (entered land 1835).
Came to Iowa Oct. 1855, settled in Henry County March 1856, where he died on his birthday in 1881, aged 73.
Reared Presbyterian, later joined the United Brethren Church.
